Housing Stabilization Program

Knawza M. and her family — a heartfelt Housing Stabilization Program success story.

The Housing Stabilization Program (HSP) is an innovative homeless prevention program that targets families who have fallen behind on rent or mortgage payments due to extenuating circumstances. The program provides short-term financial assistance to families so they can overcome their immediate housing crisis. Additionally, each family receives case management, budgeting assistance, and access to community resources in order to address life barriers that may prevent them from remaining stably housed after agency intervention.

Program Facts & Highlights:

  • HSP is the largest non-governmental homeless prevention program in Palm Beach County.
  • Due to generous support from prominent local and national foundations, including the Gerstner Family Foundation, The Jim Moran Foundation, and Cathleen McFarlane Foundation, HSP has doubled its capacity to prevent family homelessness in the past two years.
  • Our private and public foundation funders have remained steadfast in their support of homeless prevention services. Though the shift nationally has moved away from prevention as a key intervention, our funders have identified the significant role prevention services have played in Palm Beach County.
  • In the most recent fiscal year, HSP prevented more than 200 Palm Beach County families from becoming homeless.
